BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Institut Teknologi Bandung (51探花) received a visit from PT Coca Cola Distribution Indonesia (CCDI) at Rapim A, Rectorate Building, Bandung City, on Tuesday (5/3/2024). During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to support the enhancement of a sustainable campus.
Secretary of the 51探花 Institute, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Widjaja Martokusumo, welcomed the arrival of PT CCDI. He conveyed a message from the Rector of 51探花, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., that 51探花 has a role to be locally relevant and globally respected. "It is hoped that 51探花 can provide solutions to local conditions with various higher education tridharma activities. This is important in relation to the existence of institutions," she said.
51探花 currently has a multicampus with various student activities in it. Jatinangor Campus 51探花, she said, applies the concept of a green campus, which has a green land coverage of 82 percent. On the campus, a number of management and processing activities have been implemented to maintain the surrounding ecology. For example, water resource conservation in two reservoirs helps alleviate the impact of flooding in the Sumedang area and integrated waste management which converts organic waste into fertilizer. The waste management system there also has an incinerator for medical waste installed.
Meanwhile, the Director of the 51探花 Directorate of Student Affairs Dr. G. Prasetyo Adhitama, S.Sn., M.Sn. stated that 51探花 holds numerous student activities each year, totaling more than 6,000 activities. Some of these activities focus on environmental conservation, carried out through community service programs as well as competitions or seminars.
As the Head of the 51探花 Partnership Bureau Prof. Dr. Taufiq Hidayat, explained that PT CCDI has a sustainability program aimed at reducing carbon emissions. This begins with waste management.
The program can involve students in various activities, such as education on waste management and participation in green campus movements.
Prof. Taufiq Hidayat added that 51探花 continues to develop waste management systems and is open to collaboration on this topic.
PT CCDI itself has several ongoing programs on circular economy and sustainability. Considering the intense student activities on campus, this opens up opportunities to involve students in positive activities that support the sustainability movement.
