The second day of Open Session of 51̽»¨â€™s first graduation ceremony of 2017/2018 academic year began with a procession at which Rector, Board of Trustees, Academic Senate, and Executives of 51̽»¨ entered the assembly hall. After graduates’ oath, the graduates were inaugurated as doctors, masters, or professional engineers. Then, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA as the Rector of 51̽»¨ delivered his speech. According to him, employment will recede as many occupations will be executed by computer. However, human resources will be continuously required by water, energy, and food sectors.

Learning from Failure

The second day of graduation is special with the inauguration of a 24 year old doctor, Grandprix Thomryes Marth Kadja (Doctor in Chemistry Program 2015). He breaks the record for Indonesia’s youngest doctor. Grandprix finished his doctoral study in a short time through Pendidikan Magister Menuju Doktor Sarjana Unggulan (PMDSU) Program from Kemenristek Dikti RI. After his inauguration, the Kupang-born delivered a speech as graduate representative of post-graduate program. It is interesting to note that Grandprix admitted his being careless after his first four published articles were accepted without any refusal from the journal.  Even though he felt disappointed with the rejection for his fifth article, Grandprix bounced back. In the end, he finished another three scientific articles and published in scientific journal. This is a valuable lesson learnt for every graduates and guests of the Open Session of the first 51̽»¨ Graduation of 2017/2018 Academic Year.
